welcome to the GPGTools support platform. Sorry you are having problems using GPG Suite.

Both file extensions should not cause trouble. Are you running into difficulties using the sig extension? And if yes, could you explain those in more detail.

Sadly there is no option in GPG Services to change the default file suffix. But you can rename your files if needed, but that should not be necessary.

All the best,
Maybe would be worth to ask for better compatibility at that service then.

Stevetag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/486308802020-09-16T17:14:03Z2020-09-16T17:14:04ZGPG Services: .asc or .sig extension for ASCII signature files

I think GPGTools is the one being incompatible.

Alantag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/486308802020-09-16T17:16:08Z2020-09-16T17:16:08ZGPG Services: .asc or .sig extension for ASCII signature files

Currently I am not sure which service we are discussing so unable to reproduce. But as mentioned, renaming the files should be possible. We will take note of your request and if we receive additional requests for this, we will consider adding an option to change the file suffix.

Stevetag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/486308802020-11-22T19:46:13Z2020-11-22T19:46:13ZGPG Services: .asc or .sig extension for ASCII signature files

To follow up on this if you use
gpg -a --detach-sign [file]
via CLI you will end up with a signature file using asc as file suffix.

Hope this helps.

Steve
