How do I make it so that my default for sending mail is to NOT include the signature.asc ? I did a fair amount of searching, couldn’t find this answer. Thank you for your time.

Expected
Expected to find a “sign messages by default” in my GPG Suite system prefs, or maybe have OS X mail work so that if I didn’t sign my last message, it shouldn’t try to sign my next message. (Make the signing button sticky.)

thanks for taking the time to ask about this.

You can adjust the default in Mail > Preferences > GPG Mail.

We have an open feature request to allow for encrypt / sign rules on a per recipient basis. I connected this discussion with the existing ticket. Although it is not on our near term road map, that means, should this discussion get closed, it will be re-opened as soon as the ticket is closed. That way you'll stay in the loop and get notified as soon as we have news. Feel free to open a new discussion should you run into further problems or need assistance.

Another solution to this problem for which I am also connecting the open ticket would be, to have GPG Mail automatically remember this on a per recipient basis. That is similar although not identical to the first solution and obviously closely related.

I am sorry I do not have a better solution currently.

All the best,
its own preferences inside of mail. If anything I would say that it was a
little hard to find this information out. I really did some heavy searching
in the forums and such. Maybe I was just making a lot harder than it needed
to be...

cantontag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/484006172020-06-12T22:51:11Z2020-06-12T22:51:11ZGPG Mail: Turn off signing by default?

In case of GPG Suite, the problem is, that settings are a bit all over the place (in Mail, GPG Keychain and the one you searched - GPG Suite Preferences).

If you run into such situations, feel free to always reach out and ask.

Glad this is solved for you. I'm closing this discussion. Should you need further assistance or have questions you can re-open this discussion here or open a new one any time.

Best,
