When composing email, passphrase dialogs continuously pop up

Using GPGMail Nightly 1219n (from GPGSuite 1838n), I'm having the same issue as with 2017.1b3. Whenever I am composing a mail, the autosave draft function triggers, and the GPG passphrase pops up, apparently because it is trying to save an encrypted version of the draft. This happens continuously, and is very annoying. The only "solution" is to move the passphrase dialog out of the way and let it sit there.

In previous versions of GPGMail, this was not the case. GPG can encrypt a mail with my public key, without requiring any passphrase. Was this changed, and if so, for what reason?

Alternatively, this might be a bug in GPGMail's handling of the "Sign new messages by default" setting. I have always had that on, but maybe now it is trying to to sign my encrypted drafts? That is definitely unwanted. Drafts should never be signed.

I found out what seems to be the cause, at least in my particular case. What happens is that I usually start replying to some mail that I found in a folder. While typing the reply, Mail saves a draft, GPGMail encrypts it, and then Mail finds that draft as a "thread" (conversation) related message, and attempts to display it in its conversation view.

It looks like that display operation is what causes another request to GPGMail to immediately decrypt the message again. If I click in the folder list and shift the focus to some other mail thread, the passphrase popups disappear!

Is this approximately the same issue as in your internal ticket?

Yeah, this may be related. The first thing to address is the draft behavior but showing replies in threaded view plays into this as well.

We'll let you know once we have news regarding this ticket.
