Installer: GPG Suite installer asks to quit Mail.app
When installing GPG in OSX 10.12.6 with the Mail app open, it requests that Mail be closed during installation, and will not proceed without it.
Can you explain why this happens, and how GPG interacts with the Mail app that requires this action?

Hi Art,
welcome to the GPGTools support platform. Sorry you are having problems using GPG Suite.
GPG Suite comes with GPGMail which is a plug-in for Mail.app for seamless OpenPGP integration into your daily email usage. In order to install that plug-in Mail.app needs to be closed.
Let me know if that answers your question.
Best,
steve
