I don't see but would like options for:

  • Archive files with TAR (PGP-compatibile)
  • Text Output (ASCII armor) option

These are available in gpg4win, is there any reason they are not available on macOS?

Thanks

    Hi Justin,

we generally only add options if they are often used or often requested by our users.
In the past this hasn't happened, so we are wondering what your use cases are, when you specifically need those options. It would be great if you could share that with us

    All the best,
    steve

    Hi Steve

Essentially I am just looking for the process to be as consistent as possible between these two tools. I know you guys aren't directly related to the gpg4windows project but I was hoping since they are based on the same components they would have the same configuration options.

We prefer ascii based output because it is more recognizable when opened and for simplicity when trying to encode the output in some other format, for example a QR code. Also ascii based output is preferred for working with version control systems.

    Thanks for listening :)

ASCII armor is possible. Please visit the following KB to learn how to enable ASCII armor as default output: https://gpgtools.tenderapp.com/kb/gpgservices-faq/gpgservices-exper...

We have a pending feature request to add TAR support to GPGServices and I've added your comments and vote to it. The number of votes is one factor that helps us to determine what feature to add next.

Unfortunately there's no workaround for this problem at the time being. We're very sorry for that other than using CLI. This discussion will be updated however, when the requested feature is available.

    Have a nice day,
    steve
