The GPG Suite for Mac is fine, especially because it can encrypt text within a file and it's not necessary to encrypt the file itself.
An simple example is the possibility to encrypt the text in an Apple Note what works marvellously, but also different kind of files placed in iCloud. The problem is that there is no counterpart for iOS at least to see the encrypted text. The perfect solution would be the GPG Suite for iPadOS.

Maybe someone can recommend a pair of apps (macOS & iPadOS) with the described features, please?
I found SimpleumSafe but this is unknown to community and is not open source!

Thanx

zeroIDtag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/483284672020-05-18T16:13:30Z2020-05-18T16:13:30ZiPad (not email related)

HI zeroID,

you may want to take a look at iPGMail, which also does file encryption. It's not a beauty but get's the job done.

I'll leave this discussion open for a while for others to chime in.

Best,
I wonder that nobody is interested to have a "both-way" access to files stored on iCloud or whatever cloud storage.
There is also the possibility to create an 128/256 AES encrypted DMG container in macOS but no tool to open this in iOS/ iPadOS.
I understand that Apple is refraining itself to push such features by own initiative especially as the proposed crypto bill has big chances to be approved. The proposed bill is not related to Apple only but to all US cloud providers, with servers everywhere in the world, and is strange that no one wants to have ow access keys.
All those cloud companies promoting to encrypt user files and content will hand over the master keys within a second to authorities as noone wants to go to jail for Average Joe.

zeroIDtag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/483284672020-05-19T11:18:05Z2020-05-19T11:18:06ZiPad (not email related)

P.S.
OK, I found something very promising in the pipeline, but no estimated timeline given.

"Work has started on version 3 of Disk Decipher. The main focus of the 3.x series will be the iOS Files app integration. Other planned improvements are changes necessary for running Disk Decipher on macOS..."

zeroID
