welcome to the GPGTools support platform and thanks for your interest in GPG Suite.

GPG Suite is open source software. The sourcecode is linked on our website https://gpgtools.org/

GPG Suite has various components. GPG Services is a component that integrates into the macOS services menu. Through the services mechanism it is available in most apps as well as browsers and by that also can be used on the internet. Could you specify what you mean by "web file encryption"?

Following is an explanation how GPG Mail Support Plan works and how long it is valid:
Our FAQ (https://gpgtools.org/faq) states: "A release of a new major version of GPG Mail will most likely coincide with a new major macOS release, but certainly not more often than that.“
You can think of it as a yearly subscription, but it’s not exactly that. GPG Mail 3 supports macOS High Sierra and Mojave. GPG Mail 4 adds support for macOS 10.15 Catalina. GPG Mail 3 will no longer receive updates and you can decide if you want to stay on GPG Mail 3 or if you want to keep continue getting updates and purchase a support plan for GPG Mail 4. Each macOS release could have the consequence that we have to completely re-reverse and rewrite major portions of our code. We wanted to keep the option open to support new OS releases with the existing GPG Mail, if we see that Apple didn’t change the internals that much. Does that make sense?

OpenPGP is platform independent, meaning it works across all operating systems no matter if your contacts are using Linux, macOS or Windows. This KB has more details on that.

Best regards,

Thanks for your feedback.
One more questions about safety concern.
Before adopting GPG suite, I'm wondering if any test case is provided for reference to confirm the safety.
For example, with companies like intel or TI, if they want to use GPG tools, how do they evaluate the safety, or you would show them the test case to describe your understanding.

Thanks for your sharing

our tools are first and foremost UIs to true and trusted encryption technologies, namely OpenPGP/GnuPG. So for example to encrypt and sign a file, you would pick the file, choose the recipients and our tools will call GnuPG (https://gnupg.org) in order to do the encryption.

Luke Le
