It seems like things that come before I enter my password are
being ignored. Things that come afterwards are properly
decrypted..

slammingroovestag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/352136702014-11-07T21:01:43Z2014-11-07T21:01:43ZBeta doesn't decrypt

Hi,

as for the expired bug, we are investigating that and hope to
have a fix ready soon.

Did you restart your machine? A mail.app restart will indeed
help workaround the expired bug, until we have a fix. But a system
restart might help as well.

If mails do not get decrypted, there's something else going
on.

Could you try finding an exact workflow to reproduce the not
decrypted mail problem?

If that happens again, also open console.app and see if it spits
any related GPGMail / gpg / Libmacgpg errors.

All the best,

I sent an encrypted email to a friend, using Mail and the
gpgtools plugin (so, basically, I checked the lock in the
composition window)

He returned it with an email that was also encrypted using
gpgtools

I clicked on the email, and was prompted for my
password

I entered my password.

At that point, the email was still encrypted, so I cut and
pasted the contents into a text editor, selected all, and used the
key combination that decrypts, and at that point the text
decrypted, and I was able to read it.

I then replied to his email, again encrypted, and he replied
with another encrypted email. This time I was not prompted for a
password (I'm assuming there's a session that's open for a certain
amount of time when I enter the password, and that session had not
expired yet), and I was able to read the email.

I confirmed that that email had been encrypted by checking it
from the gmail web portal, so that email was successfully
decrypted.

slammingroovestag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/352136702014-11-08T19:06:35Z2014-11-08T19:06:36ZBeta doesn't decrypt

Do you know whether the method of mail composition your buddy

we'd like to apologize again for this annoyance.
We've managed to fix this really stupid bug and have a new test
build for you.

It would be great if some of you could install the new build and
let us know if this fixes the problem as it should.

To test, please follow these steps:

1.) Download the new GPGMail version:
https://releases.gpgtools.org/GPGMail-2.5b1-790.dmg
GPG Signature can be found at: https://releases.gpgtools.org/GPGMail-2.5b1-790.dmg.sig

2.) Simply run the installer (no need to uninstall it first)
(Should you have uninstalled GPG Suite in the meantime, please
re-run the Yosemite-Beta1 installer and after that, install this
new GPGMail version)

3.) Open Mail.app -> Preferences -> GPGMail and make sure
you're seeing build 790b

4.) Let us know if everything works as expected now

Thanks!

Stevetag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/352136702014-11-11T18:26:18Z2014-11-11T18:26:18ZBeta doesn't decrypt

2.5b1 build 790b fixed this issue for me!

Thanks,
