You need a private key for yourself in order to sign them Do you have a private key?

Technically you can encrypt content intended for others if you have their public key (but you won't be able to decrypt it for yourself later). But in order to sign encrypted content intended for others you have to have their public key AND a private key of your own.

    Hi,

cliff is right. You can easily check that situation by opening GPG Keychain and looking at the type column. Do you have any key in there with type "sec/pub"?
