After adding my private keys to a smart card, I was no longer able to do many things involving GPG on the command line, getting the following message:

gpg: starting migration from earlier GnuPG versions
gpg: WARNING: server 'gpg-agent' is older than us (2.0.30 < 2.1.21)
gpg: error: GnuPG agent version "2.0.30" is too old.
gpg: Please make sure that a recent gpg-agent is running.
gpg: (restarting the user session may achieve this.)
gpg: migration aborted

Expected
I would expect that gnupg2 would interoperate with the most recent release of the GPG tools software. Is there anything I do to help? I had to disable the agent in the preferences in order to get GPG to work again.

    Hi Faun,

welcome to the GPGTools support platform. Sorry you are having problems using GPG Suite.

Could you please download and install our latest GPG Suite nightly build and see if the problem persists. That page also has sig and SHA256 to verify the download.

The nightly build comes with gpg 2.1.21.

    All the best,
    steve

Disclaimer: This is a development version which has not been thoroughly tested yet - bugs or crashes are to be expected. Thanks for helping us test.
