We have a encrypted XLS file, we can decrypt the file and receive a message advising the file is decrypted however we are unable to open the XLS file once decrypted

What did you expect instead

To be able to open the file after decryption in Excel

Mark Browntag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/423493492017-04-12T16:07:15Z2017-04-12T16:07:15ZUnable to open encrypted xls.gpg file after decrypting on mac

Hi Mark,

welcome to the GPGTools support platform. Sorry you are having problems using GPG Suite.

Can you give the name of the decrypted file? Are you sure the decryption actually worked? What happens when you try to open the decrypted file?

All the best,

The file name of the decrypted file in this instance is - Export-1491997149.xls.gpg

We can decrypt the file and we then get a notification saying decryption complete but then if we try and open the file in excel we just receive a spreadsheet full of random characters..

We regularly use the software on PC and have no issues - just struggling via the mac!

Many thanks

Since the file ends with .gpg it looks like that is an encrypted and not a decrypted file. Can you try renaming the decrypted file by removing the .gpg file suffix and changing the suffix to .xls ?

Stevetag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/423493492017-08-07T17:01:41Z2017-08-07T17:01:41ZUnable to open encrypted xls.gpg file after decrypting on mac

Closing, since no further user feedback was received. Should your problem persist, feel free to re-open this discussion any time.
