welcome to the GPGTools support platform. Sorry you are having problems using GPG Suite.

Thanks for taking the time to file this report and sending in the crash logs.

Are you able to reliably trigger the crash behavior or is it happen occasionally and rather random?

All the best
the /Library/Mail/Bundles folder in order to get Mail working again and
be able to write Mails.

All the best
Lilly

Lillytag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/416498052017-01-11T16:52:40Z2017-03-22T20:14:24ZGPGMail: Mail crashes -> GPGMail for macOS 10.12 Sierra (Beta 1)

Hi Lilly,

could you please elaborate a bit further on your mail setup and key setup.
Do you only have one account setup in Mail or multiple?
Do you have one key matching the email address of your Mail account or multiple keys matching the email address?

Thanks for helping us debug this problem.

Luke Letag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/416498052017-01-11T17:07:37Z2017-03-22T20:14:24ZGPGMail: Mail crashes -> GPGMail for macOS 10.12 Sierra (Beta 1)

Sure. I have 3 accounts set up in mail.
One of these does not use a key.

The other two accounts have one corresponding key each:

Account Key
[1] [1] [2] [2] [3] [-]

Thanks for looking into this.
Lilly

Lillytag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/416498052017-01-11T17:11:14Z2017-03-22T20:14:24ZGPGMail: Mail crashes -> GPGMail for macOS 10.12 Sierra (Beta 1)

And the crash is happening immediately once you start composing an email?
Could you please check if it makes a difference, if you select any of your other inboxes first? For some reason the sender address seems to be empty to GPGMail, and that's why it crashes.

Luke Letag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/416498052017-01-11T17:27:52Z2017-03-22T20:14:23ZGPGMail: Mail crashes -> GPGMail for macOS 10.12 Sierra (Beta 1)

Now ... I reinstalled the Beta and tried: Mail crashes instantly when
hitting the "compose" button, no matter if I select an account with or
without key, as well as it crashes when I select the unified inbox.

Lillytag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/416498052017-01-11T18:13:46Z2017-03-22T20:14:23ZGPGMail: Mail crashes -> GPGMail for macOS 10.12 Sierra (Beta 1)

Interesting. It appears that the problem is always the same. It should be an easy fix, but we'd love to find out more on how it occurs.

I've attached a custom GPGMail build for you. This will still crash, but adds some more debugging info in the crash report.

Could you please install it and let us know, when you've run it.

Luke Letag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/416498052017-01-12T19:35:32Z2017-03-22T20:14:23ZGPGMail: Mail crashes -> GPGMail for macOS 10.12 Sierra (Beta 1)

Luke, with this bundle installed, I am not able to create a new message.
Hitting the button or Command + N just does nothing ... in none of the
inboxes.
Sorry for the bad news.
Lilly

Lillytag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/416498052017-01-12T21:01:26Z2017-03-22T20:14:23ZGPGMail: Mail crashes -> GPGMail for macOS 10.12 Sierra (Beta 1)

This is very interesting news.
Could you try the following:

1.) Open Console.app
2.) Type in the search box "How can sender be nil"
3.) Open Mail.app and start composing a new message just as you did before when it always crashed.
4.) Check Console.app to see if something is found.
5.) Copy that and post it here

Thanks!

Luke Letag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/416498052017-02-24T12:23:24Z2017-03-22T20:14:22ZGPGMail: Mail crashes -> GPGMail for macOS 10.12 Sierra (Beta 1)

hey Lilly,

could you please download and install our latest GPG Suite nightly build and see if the problem persists. That page also has sig and SHA1 to verify the download.

Are you then still seeing those crashes?

All the best,
steve

Disclaimer: This is a development version which has not been thoroughly tested yet - bugs or crashes are to be expected. Thanks for helping us test.

Stevetag:gpgtools.tenderapp.com,2011-11-04:Comment/416498052017-03-22T20:13:51Z2017-03-22T20:14:22ZGPGMail: Mail crashes -> GPGMail for macOS 10.12 Sierra (Beta 1)

Steve, so sorry to reply late, but I was quite busy, just couldn’t check on the topic. Now, with beta 3 it works, that I can say.

Keep up the good work. Thanks a lot!
